This winter, we’re excited to invite Our Energy customers to participate in a trial of Gridshare a groundbreaking product designed to save you money on your heating bills.

(Please note: There are a limited number of Gridshare units availailable for the trial, so we’ll be accepting participants on a first come basis)

Tell me more about Gridshare.

While Gridshare looks like a standard smart plug, this innovative new product designed to work with electric heaters, uses proprietary hardware and AI smarts to learn how you live and to synchronise the flow of energy demand with the grid. It helps you to save, without having to do anything!  

Gridshare will create a warm (or cool) environment at the right time for you, in synch with the grid, maximising the use of off-peak energy. It helps you to live comfortably and save, as well as helping your energy retailer to balance their costs (so these costs aren’t passed on to you!) and lines companies balance the load on the grid.

And, it’s designed right here in NZ.

It’s smart, but simple. The adapter simply plugs into an existing heater and you’re done. Although for this trial one of our friendly team will set up Gridshare for you.

  • Gridshare is designed to maximise your comfort while minimising how much energy you use by synchronising your comfort levels with off peak (cheaper!) times. Through the trial you'll get a report to show how much you're saving.

  • Your participation helps reduce the overall energy demand, supporting a more sustainable and resilient energy system.

  • Because the Gridshare product is in development, we want to make sure you're well supported. One of our friendly Gridshare team will help install Gridshare in your home (which will be very quick!) to make sure it's all set up for you, at a time that works for you, and to answer any questions you may have.

  • Our friendly team can answer any questions during the install. We'll also have email and phone support if you have questions during the trial.

Your data and privacy

Your privacy is important to Our Energy and Gridshare. All data collected during the trial will be anonymised and used solely for product development purposes. Your data will be stored securely and handled with care. Monthly reports will be shared with you so you can see how much you’re saving by using Gridshare.
